Due to the COVID-19 situation, the Australian government has allowed a new visa option, so that foreign citizens can stay in Australia legally.

This visa is completely free and will only be available to temporary work visa holders who are employed in critical sectors.

You can apply for this visa if you work in areas such as:

  • Health care.
  • Disability.
  • Elderly care.
  • Child care.
  • Agriculture.

Within the requirements to apply for this visa, it is important that you already have a temporary visa and that you cannot return to your country of origin. In addition, you must have a visa that is 28 days or less after it has ceased to be valid or, if you maintained a visa that has not been more than 28 days since it ceased to be active.

The purpose of allowing this visa is that you can supply the need to work in the critical sectors, since manpower is needed to face the coronavirus. If you do not comply with this you will not be eligible for this visa.

Regarding documentation, you must present your identity documents along with your passport. The most important evidences that you should show are:

  • Regarding current activities: If you have a student visa and it is about to finish, you must show the evidence of your completed studies.
  • Regarding having an occupation in the area of ​​critical services: You must demonstrate that you are working for a critical sector and that they have supported you for this application.
